Being precise about the word “AI”. These are classical NLP and statistics — TF-IDF, PageRank, naive Bayes, a sentiment lexicon — not neural networks. That is the point: they are small enough to read, fast enough to run on every keystroke, and they are what the ML courses actually teach you to build.
These are the toy versions.
In client work we build the production equivalents: embeddings instead of TF-IDF, cross-encoder rerankers instead of cosine similarity, and an evaluation suite so you can prove the system still works after a model update.
